EXECUTIONER'S SONG
The biggest news in Chicago on July 22,1934 was when John Dillinger walked out of the Biograph Theater and straight into a death trap. The executioner was playing his song entitled "Death is in the air," and Dillinger was running out of time. He was the FBI's Public enemy Number One, and he had a twenty-five thousand dollar reward on his head. |
THE UNTOUCHABLES
Elliot Ness and his Untouchable's made their many headlines by busting up a few of Al Capone's stills, which was usually done in front of newsreel cameras. Although in real life Ness never carried a gun and spent most of his time sitting behind a desk. It wasn't Ness who brought Capone down. It was the Treasury Department's Internal Revenue branch which later became the IRS. Capone wasn't brought down by bullets but with documents gathered by Elmer Irey and Frank Wilson. Capone went to prison for income tax invasion on October 24, 1931. Information Courtesy of Rick "Mad Dog" Mattix |

BABY FACE NELSON
Baby Face Nelson wasn't like other outlaws. There is not too many Criminal's that will fight to the death rather than surrender. On November 27,1934 Nelson killed two Federal Agents during a shootout in Barrington, Illinois and escaped. Nelson had been shot seventeen times and died that evening. |
Handsome Harry
Dillinger wanted to help his old pal Harry Pierpont, but his mentor was so well guarded that an "escape attempt" would have been suicidal .While in jail, Pierpont smuggled a letter out to Dillinger through his attorney to discuss the possibility of an escape plan. He made it clear that Dillinger owed him nothing, but would appreciate any help Dillinger could offer. In the letter he also remarked: "Johnnie, if you don't make it I'll see you in hell, Harry."

BLOOD AND BULLETS
Nelson was a crazy Berserk bank robber and killer and it may sound hard to believe, but Lester Gillis "Baby Face Nelson" was actually a family man turned criminal. In fact many that knew in the early years described him as a father with a wife and two children. It was said that they were a very pleasent family. But somewhere along the way he just gave up, possibly due to the depression and hard times. In the end it was nothing but blood and bullets that ended his life and those who dared to stop him. |
DEATH TO BONNIE & CLYDE
May 23,1934 Bonnie & Clyde had no idea what was waiting just up ahead for them. Just down the road hidden behind the brush were six heavily armed officers with only one thought on their minds, and that was a bloody"Ambush" to end the life of the two most wanted "lethal lovers" of the 1930s. These men were hired killers who had waited for days for this one chance to put an end to Bonnie & Clyde once and for all. The rest is History.

LETHEL LOVERS
Bonnie was very loyal to Clyde which she proved in the end when 167 bullets tore into their car in twelve seconds. The bullets ripped through the steel of the car and into the bodies of Bonnie and Clyde like puppets being shook violately on a string. There was no warning or any chance to surrender, but the truth is there would have still been a shootout. Bonnie and Clyde would have never given up until death.
